Weekly Math Support

BrainChild Achievers is an engaging after-school math enrichment program for students in grades 2-6. Designed for students performing on or slightly below grade level, the program provides small-group, hands-on instruction to help students strengthen their core math skills and stay on track or exceed grade-level expectations.

Meeting twice per week, each group participates in interactive, screen-free activities that reinforce grade-level concepts in math. The curriculum goes beyond what students cover in the classroom, offering additional enrichment to deepen their understanding and problem-solving abilities.

This program is great for busy parents who want to ensure their child is getting additional academic support after-school but they don't have the time or energy to provide that support.

What We Cover

Math Enrichment for Grades 2-6

Through the BrainChild Achievers Math program, students gain the extra support and challenge they need to thrive academically in math, setting them up for continued success in the classroom and beyond.

Numbers & Operations 1

This small-group meeting is designed for learners in grades 2-4 eager to strengthen their foundational math skills!  Meeting twice a week, this class focuses on essential concepts such as:

  • Skip-counting
  • Rounding
  • Place value 
  • Addition with regrouping
  • Subtraction with regrouping

 

Meeting Time: Monday and Wednesday 4:00 pm to 4:55 pm

Operations 2

Tailored for grades 3-6 students, this class focuses on multiplication and division—covering short and long methods—while reinforcing place value concepts up to millions. Participants should have at least 80% of their multiplication facts mastered to ensure a productive learning experience.

Operations 3 + Time & Money

Designed for students in grades 4-6, this class explores fractions, decimals, and percents, while reinforcing place value concepts. Students will also learn about money management and time calculations, including essential consumer math skills. To ensure a successful experience, participants should have 100% of their multiplication facts mastered.

STEM Foundation: Data Analysis, Geometry, & Measurement

Build a strong foundation in STEM with our engaging small group class, STEM Foundation! Targeted at grades 4-6 students, this course emphasizes data analysis, geometry, measurement, and critical thinking, providing essential skills for future scientific learning. Students should have a solid grasp of basic math operations, including mastering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.

Math Diagnostic

We assess your students’ mastery of essential K-7 math concepts and skills. Our comprehensive diagnostic evaluation covers 44 targeted sub-tests to precisely identify each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and instructional needs across foundational mathematical domains.

To be admitted to the BrainChild Achievers Math program, students must score at least slightly below grade level on this diagnostic.

Cognitive Assessment

For students ages 8+, our comprehensive cognitive assessment measures key executive functions, complex reasoning, memory, and processing speed.

Cognitive skills are the greatest predictor of future academic achievement. Our assessment provides a detailed analysis of your child’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses across core domains. This allows us to deliver targeted support to help your child thrive and gain true insight into how your child’s mind works.

If you are still considering opting for BrainChild Achievers as educational support for your child, you can always check out the common queries about this program. 

Why must my child complete diagnostic testing for admittance?

The BrainChild Achievers is designed to provide small-group educational support for students generally achieving at or near grade-level standards but could benefit from additional academic enrichment and support.

To ensure the group is meeting the needs of this target student population, we require all applicants to complete diagnostic testing in math. This allows us to verify that your child’s skills are no more than slightly below grade level, not significantly behind.

The BrainChild Achievers is NOT designed to provide intensive, one-on-one intervention for students with major skill gaps or significantly below grade-level expectations. We want to maintain a small group environment that can effectively support students close to meeting and/or excelling standards.

What Happens if My Child Does NOT Meet Testing Standards?

Suppose your child’s diagnostic results show they are significantly below grade level. In that case, we will happily recommend other academic support programs that better fit their learning needs.

We will also partially refund registration costs to any student who doesn’t meet the admission requirements.

Can I Bring An External Diagnostic Testing for Admittance?

No, we don’t accept external diagnostic testing for admittance. We admit private, homeschooled, and public students. Each private or home school can choose its testing requirements, and we’ve found it works best for everyone if we use a single, consistent diagnostic test that we administer in-house.

The difference between standardized testing and diagnostic testing is important to understand here. Standardized tests like the IOWA are designed to consistently measure a student’s general academic knowledge and skills across all test takers. The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a progress monitoring tool. Diagnostic tests, on the other hand, are meant to provide a more targeted assessment of a student’s specific strengths and weaknesses.

For our admissions process into the BrainChild Achievers program, we use a proprietary diagnostic test to understand each applicant’s academic preparedness and potential. This helps us make more informed and personalized admissions decisions. A single, in-house diagnostic test ensures a level playing field and streamlined process for all students.

Will I Get A Copy of The Test Results?

Yes, parents will receive a copy of their child’s test results. After the tests are completed, the staff will review and interpret the results. They will then schedule a meeting with you to discuss the test findings.

The test results will provide valuable insights into your child’s academic skills and performance. The staff will explain what the results mean and how they can be used to support your child’s learning at home. The results will help you understand your child’s strengths and any areas that may need additional support or practice.

With this information, you can work closely with your child and their teachers to ensure they get the help they need to succeed. The test results are an important tool for monitoring your child’s progress and developing an effective plan to meet their educational goals.

What is the capacity size?

The small groups have a total capacity of 6 seats per grade level (grades 2-6). The group size is intentional, allowing us to provide more personalized attention and support to ensure each child can excel academically. We believe in prioritizing the quality of education over the quantity of students.

Will the program help with homework?

No, the program is not designed to help with assigned homework directly. However, the program will cover several critical math skills students can use to complete their teacher-assigned homework more effectively. The program is intended to provide additional educational math support and practice rather than replacing the role of parents in helping with homework.

We believe parents need to be involved in their child’s homework and learning process. By helping with homework, parents can stay informed about what their child is working on in the classroom. This allows parents to better prepare their child for upcoming tests and assessments.

The program is designed to benefit students from all educational backgrounds – whether they attend public school, private school, or are homeschooled. The skill-building activities are aligned with general grade-level standards so students can get extra practice on the key concepts they need to be successful in the next grade. With this additional support, students will be better equipped to tackle their regular homework assignments.

The small groups aim to empower students to become more independent and successful learners in math by strengthening foundational math skills.

Will the Program help with Standardized Test Prep?

No, the program does not directly provide standardized test prep. We believe that teaching solely to the test can lead to foundational skill gaps for many students. Rather than focus on test prep, our approach is to build a solid academic foundation in math.

In working to provide a solid grade-level skill set, we may occasionally incorporate a few practice questions from test prep materials. This allows students to apply their learned skills in different question formats. However, our primary focus is developing a deep understanding of academic concepts, not just teaching specific test-taking strategies.

By equipping students with a strong foundation of grade-level skills and knowledge, we believe they will be well-prepared to succeed on any standardized tests. Our program aims to support long-term academic growth, not just short-term test performance.

What Discounts Do you offer?

For the BrainChild Achievers Math program, we offer sibling and mult-group discounts. We do not allow discounts on the registration costs.

If you have multiple family members enrolled, you’ll receive a discount on the monthly fee for each additional sibling.

In addition, we provide flexible payment plan options through Klarna and Afterpay. This allows parents to pay for the program in smaller, manageable installments rather than a lump sum upfront.

We also offer a discount if you pay for multiple months in advance. The more months you pay for at once, the greater the discount you’ll receive on the total cost.

What is the Refund Policy?

The BrainChild Achievers Math program has a strict no-refund policy on registration costs and monthly subscription fees, with one exception.

The only exception is that we will provide a partial refund of the registration costs for students who are not admitted into the program due to diagnostic testing that shows they are significantly below grade level in math.

We strongly encourage parents to review their child’s most recent school standardized test scores before registering for the BrainChild Achievers Math program. This will help ensure your child meets the minimum academic requirements to be admitted. Suppose diagnostic testing during the application process shows your child is significantly behind grade level in math. In that case, we will refund a portion of your registration fee. However, no refunds are available for registration or monthly subscription costs for students who are accepted into the program.

This policy ensures the BrainChild Achievers Math program can provide the highest quality, personalized academic math support to all enrolled students. Our curriculum and teaching methods for this program are tailored for students performing near, at, or above grade level. Students significantly behind grade level may require additional remedial support outside this program’s scope. We want to be upfront about these expectations to avoid disappointment or financial burden on families.
